Menthol crystal is a 100% pure and natural product of vegetable origin, menthol essential oil.
They come from the distillation of peppermint oil subjected to a temperature of -22 °C (-7.6 °F) to achieve crystallization.
It's not that easy to make menthol crystals.
Although the synthetic form does exist, most of the time menthol crystals are derived from the essential oil of peppermint.
The first step is the manufacture of the essential oil by mixing the plant and water to heat and transform everything into steam before cooling this same steam to recover the concentrated oil.
The second phase consists in freezing the mentholated oil as soon as it is extracted to form the crystals.
These phases require equipment for extracting essential oils and a very large quantity of mint leaves.
The mint crystals remain solid at room temperature but dissolve at 107°F (41.5°C).
They are soluble in alcohol or propylene glycol.
By plunging some mint crystals into a PG base, you get a pure menthol vape juice - and an improved "hit".
The rule is to dissolve the crystals in the third. So if you have 5 grams, you can dilute them in 15ml propylene glycol USP to get strong menthol drops.
You can then further dilute this preparation if its taste is deemed too strong (chill ejuice) or add a few drops to your e liquid to bring it freshness and create a menthol flavor concentrate.
For easier dilution, we recommend that you crush the menthol crystal as much as possible before immersing them in PG preferably and heating very slowly until dissolved.
A water bath at a temperature of about 40°C / 104°F is effective.
You can try by yourself, the crystals melt slowly even under a simple halogen lamp.
* Warning: inhaling mentol can be irritating to the throat and respiratory tracts, especially for beginners.
It is advisable to assess its intensity by starting with the use of a reasonable amount.
Vaping menthol crystals
We advise you to adapt your resistances, especially if you are vaper beginner, and start with high resistances of 1,2 or 1,8 ohms to get used to.
With experience, you can then vary the resistances and wattage to find the strong menthol e liquid that suits you best.
